The Anatomy of Astrology

Astrology is primarily seen by many as a gimmick which is used for purposes that are either for monetary gain or for entertainment. However there are numerous studies which suggest that your astrological zodiac signs can tell many things about a person and whilst some personality traits may appear to be too generic or not specific enough, if one studies their star sign in detail, they can often come to a better understanding of what it is that makes them act or respond to things the way they do. Recent studies suggest that over a quarter of the population of America and the United Kingdom believes that the planetary and astral positions determine our lives and with the popularity increasing and more thorough research, this number is set to rise.
Evidence suggests that astrology dates back to over 25,000 years and whilst it has developed over the years the ideology of it remains the same. In Ancient times it was used for monitoring the sun and the changes in the seasons, now it is used more associated with a person's characteristics and birth date.
Many legendary names in physics, literature, politics and physiology are known to have studied and used astrological influences in their work. A highly publicized event was when in 1981 Nancy Reagan commissioned legendary astrologer Joan Quigley to act for the White House after the attempted assassination on the then president Ronald Reagan. However after 7 years serving the White House Quigley stepped down after the former chief of staff published details of his work at the White House in his Memoirs.
Zodiac signs are made of twelve elements and each are said to make up twelve personalities and in the western world astrology is measured using the line of the equator and is simply divided into 12 points however in the Indian astrological charts the signs are associated with the earths constellations.
Western signs are made up of and placed in a specific order and each can also be divided into four separate basic elements, water, fire, earth and air. All the zodiac signs are represented by their own unique symbol. Whilst some believe that signs should be placed in order of the calendar and should therefore start with the sign Capricorn, in actual fact the first sign in the charts begins with Aries and follows with Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces.
Newspapers and magazines commonly publish astrology columns which include possible up and coming events dictated by the movement of the sun and the signs and whilst this is the most popular way in which people can obtain this information, this can be somewhat generic. A more accurate approach is to have a reading and chart completed by someone who has studied astrology and can give more specific information which often relates not only to the birth date but also to the time for which a person was born.

Seance - The Daisey Mae Story

Monday 26th September - Preview of New Show. It is common for Theatre shows do run preview events and performances before the formal run of dates begins... It is common for comedians to try out material on a selected audience before going on tour... I would assume therefore that Magicians would do the same... For me this was the first time of running a dress rehearsal preview of a full two hour show in front of an invited audience and I'm not sure why it's taken me this long to do it! OK, the downside is having to cover the costs of hiring the venue BUT the pluses far outweigh these costs. It's almost impossible to rehearse a mentalism show without an audience, and despite the scripting, blocking, routining that needs to be done its not until there are real people watching what you do are you likely to get any sense of the 'effectiveness' of your show. Seance: The Daisey Mae story is a two hour show ending in a seance. I spent ages on a back story linking the...

Pokemon Training - Not Unlike Horses

Welcome to the Pokemon Cafe! The Pokemon cafe is for those who, like me, know next to nothing about the world of Pokemon that our kids are so excited about. I myself am a mother of an 11-year-old boy who spends a great deal of his day thinking of Pokemon. These days he's especially crazy about Pokemon Black and White, including the Pokemon card game and also the new Pokemon Black and White Plushies (Pokemon stuffed toys that look like stuffed animals). Since Pokemon Black and White came out, I admit to caving in and buying him a large plush toy and two small plushies. No more! Today's topic is training- how it is done and the attitudes of the trainers. Practically speaking, there are the attitudes of trainers in the animated Pokemon storyline and the attitudes of gamers. It is the former I want to focus on; it's more interesting! Like any other animal/human relationship, the core of the Pokemon/trainer relationship is based on trust. Beyond that, there may be a great deal...
